The Making of Episode Two

June 18th, 2010

There is a lot of planning that goes into making Fear No Art Chicago. Elysabeth Alfano is the face of the program and the Executive Producer, but there are several other people who help make the program a reality. There are the generous sponsors who give their support, the artists who open their studios to Elysabeth, and the people at both WTTW and HMS Media, who bring Fear No Art Chicago to the screen.

Right now, we are in pre-production for the fall episode. Fear No Art Chicago almost doubled its expected ratings for the premiere episode, and we have no intention of losing any of that momentum. Just last week, we met with the team at HMS Media to strategize how to make Fear No Art Chicago even better.

Discussion covered some minor technical tweaks, like the possible addition of a second camera and some creative microphone placement and graphics, and we even covered Elysabeth’s possible wardrobe choices (no patterns).

But the most exciting thing about the upcoming episode is the great lineup of artists we have. We’ll be talking with people from very diverse disciplines, casting our wide art net. While we don’t want to say too much here and spoil the surprise, let’s just say that we may be setting some things on fire… figuratively and literally. We’re going to have a long shoot day ahead of us on July 1st. We’ll be visiting artists’ studios all around the city to show you the artists behind the art. Stay tuned!
